Rona Jones

Registered Osteopath

“I love being an osteopath because It is so varied and offers endless opportunities for more study. I find it incredibly rewarding to help people improve their health and see the healing power of nature at work. Our bodies are truly amazing.”

Professional Profile

I graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in 2005 with first class honours.

Since qualifying, I have taken several specialist courses including cranial osteopathy, pregnancy and post-natal osteopathy, medical acupuncture and Dynamic Taping. I am also a Pilates instructor and hold weekly classes in Wimborne.

As part of my training at BCOM, I studied nutrition and naturopathy and can advise you on natural ways to help manage conditions alongside lifestyle advice to assist with issues such as stress management and weight loss. I have a particular interest in women’s health.

I especially enjoy treating pelvic and sacro-iliac problems and running injuries as well as headaches. I like to work using a variety of techniques depending on the patient and his or her presenting symptoms.

Personal Profile

I love being part of the local community and try to support other local businesses as much as possible. If we don’t support them, they won’t survive.

I believe you need to lead by example and I try to look after my own health, without being obsessive. Like our Facebook page to see regular posts on staying healthy.

I am married to Nick who teaches at Canford School and we have two children who keep us very busy and bring us great joy. We have a retired greyhound, Flo, who is a great reason to get the whole family out for a walk, whatever the weather. Flo is very lovely but has separation anxiety so occasionally she comes to work with me – she is always a big hit with patients who love to make a fuss of her.

When I am not at work

I enjoy running and compete in local events up to and including half marathons. To date, I have managed to resist all pressure to run the full 26.2 miles. Nowadays, I mostly run on the trails and love exploring the local countryside. I am always very happy to talk about walking and running routes so if you need some inspiration to get out and about in the local area, please ask.

I am also addicted to knitting and crochet – there is research out there to back up how good they are for your mental health!

The Future

Wimborne Osteopathic Clinic is growing (mostly through word of mouth, thank you all so much) and I look forward to running a full-time clinic in the not-so-distant future.

Over the next few years I plan to continue studying the science of pain and find new ways to help patients with longer term conditions as well as furthering my study of cranial osteopathy.
